Carl Everett Glasscock McVoy was an American singer and pianist, cousin to Jerry Lee Lewis (their mothers were sisters), born on January 3, 1931 in Epps, Louisiana. Due to financial reason, most of his musical recordings were distributed in small numbers or even not issued. He combined his unsuccessful musical career with a day job in the construction business, and indeed around 1965 he quit the music business and opted for a more secure future in the construction industry, in which he worked until his death on January 3, 1992 in Jackson, Mississippi. Several of his records have been reissued posthumously.
McVoy recorded the two rockabilly songs “Be Honest With Me” and “Little Girl” at Sun studio in 1957 and 1958 respectively, but they were not issued at the time. These two tracks have recently been released as a 45rpm vinyl single on Cornelius Records. The song “Little Girl” tells about a girl he has loved “like that’s for sin,” and whom he will love for the rest of his life.

Here are the song’s lyrics from the BlackCat Rockabilly Europe web archive (with corrections):
LITTLE GIRL
Sometimes, I feel downhearted and just can’t go to sleep
And if you should ever leave me, I sit right down and weep
For the rest of my life little girl
Oh little girl, oh little girl
You mean more to me than all of this whole wide world
Sometimes I feel so happy, sometimes I almost cry
And if you should ever leave me, I guess that I would lie right here
And die, ie ie little girl
Yeah little girl, oh little girl
You mean more to me than all of this whole wide world
I remember I loved you like that’s for sin
Little girl I sure love you
You spoil me with love and kisses
And nobody else will do, little girl
Some day, we’re gonna get married, and raise a family
And if you should ever leave me, I wanna say little girl I did
For the rest of my life little girl
Oh little girl, oh little girl
You mean more to me than all this whole wide world
[Solo]
I remember I loved you like that’s for sin
Little girl I sure love you
You spoil me with love and kisses
And nobody else will do, little girl
Some day, we’re gonna get married, and raise a family
And if you should ever leave me, I wanna say little girl I did
For the rest of my life little girl
Oh little girl, oh little girl
You mean more to me than all this whole wide world
