Gene Maltais is an American musician, singer and songwriter, born in Concord, New Hampshire, on May 21, 1933. Prior to 1958, he met Tony Hilder who introduced him to Aladdin Records. Maltais wrote songs for recording artists, including John & Jackie. The latter recorded two songs written by him, “The Raging Sea” and “Little Girl,” which were released as a single in July 1958 on the Aladdin label. The two sides of the record are not numbered or labelled A and B, so either one or the other of the two songs is considered as the A-side.

Their interpretation is very original and quite daring for that epoch. As writes RockabillyDukeBox!,

I was intrigued that it had a publish date of 1958 and I also wondered how it got passed the strict (at the time) obscene publications rules.

Indeed,

It’s not until Jackie comes in with her simulated orgasms (singing??) that the song really picks up pace and gets going.

Here is a YouTube musical video of the song:

Here are the lyrics, from the defunct BlackCat Rockabilly Europe website (www.rockabilly.nl):

LITTLE GIRL
words & music by Gene Maltais

Uh huh, uh huh, uh huh

Little girl (Little girl)
Little girl (Little girl)
Well, I love you and I think you’re fine
Well, I love you and I think you’re fine

Little girl (Little boy)
Little girl (Little boy)
Well, you’re cute, let’s make some time
Well, you’re cute, let’s make some time

Well, I can’t help but thinkin’ when you’re on my mind
I love you little girl, let’s make some time
Now come a little closer, I know you care
Come on little girl now please please share

Little girl (Little boy)
Little girl (Little boy)
Well, you’re cute, let’s make some time
Well, you’re cute, let’s make some time

Little girl (Little boy)
Little girl (Little boy)
Well, I wish that I could call you mine
Well, I wish that I could call you mine

Well, I can’t help but thinkin’ when you’re on my mind
I love you little girl, let’s make some time
Now come a little closer, I know you care
Come on little girl now please please share

Little girl (Little boy)
Little girl (Little boy)
Well, I love you and I think you’re fine
Well, I love you and I think you’re fine

Little girl (Little boy)
Little girl (Little boy)
Well, you’re cute, let’s make some time
Well, you’re cute, let’s make some time

(Ah, ah, ah, oh little boy you’re just too much)

Little girl (Little boy)
Little girl (Little boy)
Well, you’re cute, let’s make some time
Well, I wish that I could call you mine

Well, I can’t help but thinkin’ when you’re on my mind
I love you little girl, let’s make some time
Now come a little closer, I know you care
Come on little girl now please please share

Little girl (Little girl)
Little girl (Little boy)
Well, I love you and I think you’re fine
Well, I love you and I think you’re fine
Well, I love you and I think you’re fine

Gene Maltais also interpreted himself “The Raging Sea” and “Little Girl,” but as one can hear on the YouTube video with the two songs together, his version is quite banal compared to that of John & Jackie:

More information on the song (including an audio file of it) is found in the blog The Incredibly Strange Creatures of Rock & Roll.
