En 1917 parut un petit livre érotique dans une édition réservée aux souscripteurs, imprimée en 810 exemplaires numérotés. Intitulé Le Divan d’Amour du Chérif Soliman et dédié « à tous les poètes orientaux et africains », il se présente comme un récit autobiographique traduit de l’Arabe. Il relate, dans un style orientaliste mêlant clichés et anachronismes, la vie amoureuse d’un Algérien nommé Soliman, de son adolescence jusqu’à l’arrivée de la vieillesse. Né le 20 mai 1947, l’écrivain français Paul Fournel a publié de la poésie, des romans, des nouvelles, des pièces de théâtre et des essais. Dans son recueil de courtes nouvelles Les petites filles respirent le même air que nous, « La clairière » raconte l’escapade d’une jeune fille dans la forêt. Eric Stenbock published in 1894 a collection of seven short studies, Studies of Death, subtitled Romantic Tales. As indicated by the title, most of these stories are macabre, ending in the death of some protagonists. For nearly a hundred years this book was quite forgotten, and almost unobtainable. In 1984, the Garland publishing house reprinted the 1894 edition, together with The Shadow of Death (1893), Stenbock’s third collection of poetry. Then in 1996 the Durtro publishing house (of David Tibet) reprinted Studies of Death, adding to it the short story “The Other Side: A Breton Legend,” which had originally been published separately in The Spirit Lamp (Vol. IV, No. 2, 6 June 1893, pages 52–68).
