King Diamond is the stage name of Kim Bendix Petersen, a Danish rock singer and songwriter born on June 14, 1956. In 1985 he formed, with guitarist Michael Denner and bassist Timi Hansen, a heavy metal band also called King Diamond.

Their 7th studio album The Graveyard, released on October 1st, 1996, was one of their most successful albums, peaking at No. 23 in the Finnish Charts and remaining for two weeks in the Top 40. The album’s lyrics follow a gruesome plot, where the singer claims to have been sent to an insane asylum by a perverted mayor whom he saw abuse his own daughter Lucy; having escaped from the asylum and being now really insane, he has taken refuge in a graveyard, where he digs a tomb and plots his revenge. In the song “I’m Not A Stranger,” the 6th track, he is seductively addressing Lucy, claiming to be a friend and inviting her to the graveyard.

Here is, from YouTube, a music video of the song with the lyrics:

An MP4 file of that video, with louder sound, is available on the site Rose Bonbon.

Here are the lyrics, adapted from the transcriptions in Genius and in Lyrics.com, and from that video:

I’m Not A Stranger
words & music by King Diamond

I’ve been watching Lucy all week
I’ve been watching her at school
I know her schedule, I know it well
I know exactly when she’s leaving

Oh Lucy, take my hand
How can I make you understand?
I’m not a stranger, I am a friend
I’m gonna take you home to Daddy…later

Such beautiful eyes you have
Oh, such beautiful hair
You must be at least seven years of age
Am I right now? as if I really care!

Cause you’re his daughter, his little daughter
The one I’m supposed to have hurt
But I could never, I could never
I could never hurt a little girl like you

Oh Lucy, take my hand
How can I make you understand?
I’m not a stranger, I am a friend
I’m gonna take you home to Daddy…later

[SOLO by Herb Simonsen]

Such beautiful eyes you have
Such beautiful hair
You must be at least seven years of age
But who cares, ’cause you’re coming with me now!

[SOLO by Andy La Rocque]

Come on little girl
Why are you making such a fuss?
Come on little girl
Come on, it is time

I’ve got real dolls on my wall, I made them myself
And you can play with them
And play with them and play with them
Until your Daddy comes to get you

Oh Lucy, take my hand
How can I make you understand?
I’m not a stranger, I am a friend
I’m gonna take you home to Daddy…later

I I I I and you will soon be home now
I I I I and you are gonna play then
I I I I, you you you you, we we we we
We’re gonna have some fun, yeah!

Sweet graveyard here we come!
Sweet graveyard here we come!
Sweet graveyard here we come!
Sweet graveyard!
