Mustard Plug is an American ska punk band from Grand Rapids, Michigan, United States, formed in 1991 and still existing now. Their music is noted for the horn section of trumpeter Brandon Jenison and trombonist Jim Hofer. Their 1999 album Pray for Mojo was released both as CD and as vinyl LP.

Its 7th track “Lolita” (first track on the B side of the LP), composed by their singer Dave Kirchgessner, tells the love of the singer for a young girl, which is condemned by society: “the world won’t accept the way I feel / And the man says that our love ain’t real” and “today our love can never be.”

Here is the song’s music video from the band’s YouTube channel:

Here are the lyrics from AZLyrics:

Lolita

Lolita
I wanna meet ya
I wanna take you in my arms and squeeze ya
‘Cause you amaze me
Ya really slay me
And every touch just drives me crazy

Lolita
I wanna meet ya
I wanna take you in my arms and squeeze ya
‘Cause you amaze me
Ya really slay me
And every touch just drives me crazy

But the world won’t accept the way I feel
And the man says that our love ain’t real
If only our hearts, they could only see
But today our love can never be

Every time that we’re together
I get the feeling that it’s never been better
Your love just blows me away
Tell me that you’re thinkin’ of me
And that you put no one else above me, don’t ya
I need ya baby right now!

Lolita
Since I met ya
Girl you know I could never forget ya
And I know now
I’m making my vow
That we’re gunna be together somehow

But the world won’t accept the way I feel
And the man says that our love ain’t real
If only our hearts, they could only see
But today our love can never be

Every time that we’re together
I get the feeling that it’s never been better
Your love just blows me away
Tell me that you’re thinkin’ of me
And that you put no one else above me, don’t ya
I need ya baby right now!

Every time that we’re together
I get the feeling that it’s never been better
Your love just blows me away
Tell me that you’re thinkin’ of me
And that you put no one else above me, don’t ya
I need ya baby right now!

The song was also included as 4th track in the 1998 rock compilation Hopelessly Devoted To You Too, Vol. II.
