After dissolving the band, he embarked on a successful solo career in the 1970s and 1980s. Ponce-Denis Écouchard-Lebrun, dit Lebrun Pindare (1729–1807) fut l’un des rares poètes lyriques de son époque ; on l’affubla du surnom de « Pindare français ». Fils d’un valet de chambre du prince de Conti, il fut inscrit par ce dernier au Collège Mazarin. Il fit de brillantes études et montra des dispositions précoces pour la poésie, composant ses premiers vers à 12 ans. Sa versatilité politique lui permit de briller sous tous les régimes que connut la France de son vivant, et il gagna sa vie en flattant tour à tour les puissants du jour.
